AGM 2020

Update 11th June, 2020

Regrettably the committee have tonight made the decision that this year’s AGM and Autumn Meeting will not now take place physically due to the ongoing uncertainty with the Coronavirus. The Committee are to arrange a “virtual meeting”. We are hoping this will enable members that wouldn’t normally be able to attend the AGM to attend and take part and also enable some social time to be incorporated.

The AGM and Autumn Gathering will take place on the weekend of 4th, 5th and 6th September, 2020 on Zoom.

Update 26th June 2020.

We are sorry that we shall not be able to gather in Swaledale this September but we hope that you may feel able to join us on Zoom. We have planned four separate ‘events’ on three consecutive days and you are welcome to join us for any or all of them – details below. All times given are UK time – we would be very pleased if members from around the world are able to join us. The details that you will need to enable you to join will be emailed to you nearer the time.

The Plan.

Friday 4th September at 7 pm (for max 40 minutes). This is just social time – you can bring the drink of your choice, settle back in your chair and meet other members of the AFHS – firstly in a whole group for a Welcome and then with the opportunity to break out into small groups so that you can chat to a few other members – who you may know or may be meeting for the first time. The break out groups will change after a while so that you will be able to chat with a different group of people, and so on.

Saturday 5th September at 1 pm. Visit the ALDERSON Gallery (for max 40 minutes). In the AFHS Gallery we have about 2400 photographs of all descriptions. In days gone by you would have had the chance to browse the photograph albums at Muker, but now all our photographs are available as images in the Gallery of P-tree. This visit will be our chance to show you some of our collection – all you have to do is join us and enjoy looking at the photographs, while hearing a bit about them.

Saturday 5th September at1.50 pm AGM (for max 40 minutes). The Committee is working hard to bring you the AGM in this new format – more details nearer the time.

Sunday 6th September at 1 pm (for max 40 minutes)Visit the ALDERSON Museum. You are invited to submit a photograph of something you have, that is related to your family history. As well as the photograph you must submit a short description. On the day of the visit, the photograph will be shown on the screen and your description read out – you can read it out yourself (that would be great) or, if you prefer, someone else will read it for you. The photograph and the description must be sent to Yvonne Alderson afhs.yvonne@beyondboothambar.org.uk by 5th August. You are welcome to join this visit even if you decide not to submit a photograph

If you have any ideas please feel free to share by emailing your idea to any committee member.
