Spring Visit 2023

29 April 2023.  A few pics from our Spring meeting at Hartlepool.  The event was a great success, the weather was kind (stayed dry always a bonus on the east coast of UK), the Museum was a lovely venue with the room we met in overlooking HMS Trincomalee, the talks were informative and interesting, the tour guides were equally informative and fun, everyone enjoyed the cannon firing experience.  Our evening meal at Hardwicke Hall Manor Hotel was well received and the visit to the Heugh Battery was excellent.  The Battery opened especially for us including the cafe so many thanks to them and their volunteers.

12 January 2023.  AFHS members should have received an email giving full details of our Spring Visit 2023, but please find below some information.

On 26th April we will meet at the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Hartlepool in the Sir William Grey Suite, overlooking HMS Trincomalee at 10.30 for tea and coffee.
We will have a talk on various notable Alderson’s from the Hartlepool area given by our Chair.
A local historian, photographer, musician will give an illustrated talk on Hartlepool’s history.
A buffet lunch will be served, followed by a short introduction to the history of HMS Trincomalee followed by a guided tour. You will then have the opportunity to enjoy the rest the museum has to offer.
That evening we will meet at our hotel, Hardwicke Hall Manor Hotel, for a group dinner.
The following morning we will meet at Heugh Battery Museum for a guided tour, you will then be free to extend your stay there, visit the cafe for refreshments or walk the Headland Trail.
Details for booking the hotel are included in your email along with the booking form for what we hope will be a great event.
